Menus
« on: September 01, 2011, 04:33:27 PM »
I really, really need to improve the menus at http://autofeupdater.com/ as I've extended way beyond where I should've taken them.   The basic problem is that if folks land up at a page they don't know where in the hierarchy they are.  For example say you land up at http://autofeupdater.com/pages/settings12.htm you have no idea that it's in the Basic Info >> Update Config File menu.

When I look at http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/prairies/ you can see at a glance that you are on the News >> National >> Prairies tab.   So I'd like to somehow duplicate that structure.  However I also like having the vertical sub/sub menu on the left hand side.

Any suggestions?  Once I understand CSS of course.

Tony,

Stu Nichol's site is considered by many to be the best place for css based menus. http://www.cssplay.co.uk/menus/  The lovely thing about CSS based menus is that they are almost always nothing more than nested lists with CSS and in some cases, javascript (primarily for older browsers which means IE 7 and below)
