FrontPage to Expression Question
« on: September 17, 2010, 09:01:43 AM »
Hello
I have been directed here by Cheryl - I am wanting to upgrade to expression as support for FrontPage is being phased out by most hosting companies and not only that but i need to upgrade my skills (as limited as they are) to stay competitive. I have not purchased Expression yet but am hoping to do so soon.
Here is my problem in a nutshell tho' - I have a meeting with the owner of
www.ptsmanns.com within the next week and I know I will not be able to learn all the fine points of html and css in that time. Will I be able to come up
with something for her in the short term with an "out of the box" Expression
web 4 template or DWT and then be able to fine tune it as I learn more?
Thank You for Your time and attention in this matter
Wolfknight (David Toubeaux)

You can try using one of the out-of-the-box templates to start with but if you choose to do so, you might want to read this on reorganizing how they are set up.
http://www.expression-web-tutorials.com/create-website-using-site-templates.html

OR you could try using one of the Site Templates Tina and I offer

http://www.frontpage-to-expression.com/site-templates/

It might help you to read the article posted under the Migrating from FrontPage to Expression Web section of this forum. It is taken from the ebook of the same name.

Whatever you decide to do you will need to learn at least the basics of writing XHTML code and using CSS. Lots of resources under the newbie section.

And more template resources here http://www.expression-web-tutorials.com/ew-templates.html

So I guess the final answer is how comfortable you will be doing this and your skill level in making the changes.

Decide on something and come back and ask more questions.
